Gertrude Ellis, a former Niagara Falls resident, died Monday (March 23, 1998) in her Minnick Road home while under the care of Niagara Hospice. She was 78.
The former Gertrude Krishke was born in Harrisburg, Pa. She moved to Detroit as a child and attended schools there before moving to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. She moved to Niagara Falls in 1955.
Mrs. Ellis worked as an executive housekeeper at the Holiday Inn on Buffalo Avenue in Niagara Falls from 1962 to 1972.
She was a member of Dorothy Bell Rebekah Lodge 462 and the Sunshine Senior Citizens Club in Niagara Falls and the Lockport Senior Citizens. She attended Raymond Community Church.
Her husband, Thomas, died in 1983.
Survivors include a son, David T. of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Phyllis Rocco of Sanborn and Linda Duncan of the Town of Tonawanda; and two brothers, Otto and William Krishke, and a sister, Elizabeth Budka, all of Detroit.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Otto Redanz Funeral Home, 2215 Military Road, Town of Niagara. Burial will be in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston.
