Donald A. Armstrong, 82, formerly of East Avenue, retired vice president of Phinney Tool and Die of Medina, died Tuesday (March 24, 1998) in Genesee Mercy Healthcare Campus, Batavia, while he was under hospice care.
A native of Ridgeway, Armstrong spent most of his life in the Medina area. He served as an Army medic in New Guinea, Australia and the Pacific during World War II.
Armstrong worked for many years at Phinney Tool and Die Co. Inc., until he retired in 1977 as vice president.
He enjoyed golf and skeet shooting. He was a member of the National Skeet Shooting Association and a former member of Shelridge Country Club. He also was an avid card player and was a member of the American Contract Bridge League.
Armstrong was a member of the American Legion of Medina.
His wife, the former Viola A. Callara, died in 1986.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Blanchet of Batavia; a sister, Marian Chapman of Lockport; two grandchildren.
