MEETING SET WEDNESDAY ON 9 MILE ISLAND CAMP

A public meeting on the possible development of the Nine Mile Island Youth Camp will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the North
Amherst Fire Hall at 2200 Tonawanda Creek Road.

Members of the youth camp, which currently holds the property lease, will be present along with residents interested in the future of the property.

The State Canal Corp. plans to divest itself of excess land on the 31-acre property for development, and two Amherst developers have expressed interest in constructing homes there.

The Thruway Authority has invited officials from the state and from the towns of Pendleton and Amherst to attend. The camp is in Pendleton, but the only access is off Orbit Drive in Amherst.
