Charles R. Stancampiano of East Amherst, a general contractor and master craftsman, died unexpectedly Saturday (March 21, 1998). He was 77.
He worked as a finishing contractor with his brothers for more than 30 years, and he operated Stan-Good Construction in the Eggertsville area. His son, Charles, joined him in recent years.
Born in Buffalo, Stancampiano graduated from a predecessor to Hutchinson-Central Technical High School.
During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Eagle and saw action in Guam and the Philippines.
A 15-year Buffalo Bills season ticket holder, Stancampiano never missed a home game and attended all Bills playoff and Super Bowl games.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, the former Patricia DiCicco; a daughter, Joanna Conway of Williamsville; a son, Charles R. Jr. of Williamsville; a sister, Phyllis of Kenmore; a brother, Bart of Kenmore; and a granddaughter.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered today in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church of Amherst. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
