Charles C. Conte of Lackawanna, who was a blacksmith at Bethlehem Steel Corp., died Friday (March 20, 1998) in Mercy Hospital. He was 85.
Conte worked for Bethlehem for 44 years.
Born in Pittsburgh, he attended Lackawanna High School and enjoyed golf, bowling and bocce.
Conte was a member of the Lake Erie Italian Club and the Steel City Senior Citizens.
He and the former Faye M. Valletta were married 62 years.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Charles A. of Lackawanna; a daughter, Charlene Clark of Lackawanna; five brothers, Frank of Lackawanna, Sam of Indiana, Larry of Batavia, Joseph of Ohio and Eugene of Poughkeepsie; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 306 Ingham Ave., Lackawanna, with prayers at 10:45 in Lombardo Funeral Home, 3060 Abbott Road near Lake Avenue, Orchard Park. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna.
