2 RUSSIANS ADMIT KIDNAPPING ROLE

A man and woman arrested Monday in southern Russia confessed to assisting in the kidnapping of two American Mormon missionaries, officials said. Another suspect was at large.

The U.S. Embassy said the female suspect called police demanding money and negotiated, according to Sen. Bob Bennett, R-Utah.

Andrew L. Propst, 20, of Lebanon, Ore., and Travis R. Tuttle, 20, of Gilbert, Ariz., were kidnapped March 18 in Saratov. They were released unharmed Sunday. Bennett said the motive appeared to be money. He said a 45-year-old man also was in custody, and police are looking for a 20-year-old.
