Niagara Regional Police will introduce an automated telephone system for administrative and non-emergency calls next Monday.
All non-emergency calls from anywhere in the region will be picked up by the new system, which will offer callers several options, officials said. Existing local telephone numbers to the police will remain the same.
The system is available only to callers with touch-tone phones. People using rotary-dial phones will be diverted automatically to a live attendant.
