Celoron firefighters got more of a practice run than expected Sunday.
Fire crews spent a couple of hours Sunday morning practicing interior smoke drills at a vacant house on Fairmount Avenue.
They expected to burn down the large, empty house next Sunday in a full-scale fire drill, but the flames apparently rekindled about 5 p.m. and the fire was shooting through the roof when firefighters arrived back on the scene.
Several fire companies spent over four hours working to douse the flames.
The building was scheduled for demolition to make room for new Aldi's grocery and Autozone stores. It was given to the Fire Department for practice purposes.
The Sunday morning drill was the second conducted at the house. Crews had been on the scene for several hours Tuesday night as well, doing interior drills.
