DRIVER JUMPS OUT OF CAR BEFORE CRASH

LOCKPORT -- A young man jumped out of his car seconds before a tractor-trailer smashed into it at State Road and the Lockport Bypass Sunday night, Officer David Barrancotta said.

Thomas K. Bancroft, 19, of 11 Sunnyside St., said he was unable to stop his car at a stop sign because of ice on the pavement. So with the 18-wheeler approaching, he decided to vacate the vehicle, which was then struck by the Relco Systems rig driven by Myron M. Hall, 36, of 51 Blake St., Buffalo. No charges were filed and there were no injuries.
