Herbert O. Harris, 86, of Gowanda, a retired registered nurse, died Thursday (March 19, 1998) in his home.
Born in Westfield, he received his nursing degree from the Gowanda State Homeopathic Hospital and worked for 40 years as afternoon supervisor at the Gowanda Psychiatric Center.
During World War II, he was a Navy corpsman.
He was a 50-year member of Moose Lodge 115 of Westfield and Gowanda Phoenix Lodge 262.
He served as director of the Olean branch of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Survivors include his wife, the former Lona Witt; two daughters, Rosemary of Gowanda and Ruth Ann Menneke of Mexico, Mo.; a sister, Zona Thrasher of Gowanda; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Schindler Funeral Home, Gowanda. Burial will be in East Ripley Cemetery.[hdvs]
