The 20th annual WJTN Heart Radiothon raised $129,077 for the American Heart Association.

The total from the two-day event in Chautauqua Mall included $59,877 from the Heart Walk that attracted 700 walkers despite a snowy Saturday morning.

"Every year it amazes me, because we wonder how much more people can give," said Jeff Lubi, the association's regional executive director. "But if you ask, they give, and it is making a difference in our schools, workplaces and in people's lives throughout this whole area."

Merrill Rosen, WJTN general manager, said the event has raised close to $1 million in 20 years.
