HAYES TO SEEK ANDERSON'S SEAT

Amherst Councilman James P. Hayes announced Saturday that he will run for the Assembly seat now held by Richard R. Anderson, R-Amherst, who decided last week not to seek re-election this fall.

Hayes said he will seek the endorsement of the Republican, Conservative and Independence parties.

Hayes has been an Amherst councilman since 1994 and is serving his second term on the Town Board.

He is currently director of development at Catholic Charities.
