A benefit for Missy MacFarlane, a Newfane High School senior paralyzed from the waist down in a 1997 crash, will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Wrights Corner Fire Company Hall, 4043 Lake Ave.

Missy was a passenger in a car that hit a van May 27. She was taken by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center for lifesaving surgery, which included repair of a torn aorta and removal of her spleen.

The benefit will pay for her medical bills, including upcoming plastic surgery to repair her scarred face, and modifications to her home to make it wheelchair-accessible.

The benefit includes music by Bob Verheyn of Rev-Co Sound, a magic show by Derek Budde, an auction and dinner from 4 to 7 p.m.

The proceeds will be matched by the Aid Association for Lutherans.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and $3 for children ages 5 to 10. They are available at the door, or by calling 433-8920 or 778-7805.
