My suggestion for improving the quality of life in Buffalo involves citizen participation. The city should provide public trash cans, similar to those along the Elmwood Strip, throughout Buffalo's public gathering places -- churches, clubs, school yards, businesses, etc. If there were more public trash cans, there would be less litter.
Before installing these trash cans, owners or operators of these facilities would sign a note of commitment to the city, stating that they are responsible for emptying these trash cans on a regular basis.
With some up-front investment toward its responsible citizenry, the city's image of a clean, pleasant place to live can be further enhanced.
