Robert G. Braun, 68, who developed high-end housing in several suburban communities, died Sunday (Dec. 28, 1997) in Miami after a long illness.
A Buffalo native, he graduated from Amherst Central High School and then, following in the footsteps of his father, Gerald, became a building contractor.
The younger Braun quickly moved into development, where he planned some of the area's more upscale housing subdivisions, including Meadowview Estates and Waterford Park in Amherst, Heritage Farms in West Seneca and Hillsboro Estates in Orchard Park.
At his death, he was busy with two still-incomplete developments, Woodcrest Estates in East Aurora and Braunview in Orchard Park.
Survivors include his wife, Ingrid; three sons, Richard G. and Robert G. Jr., both of Erie, Pa., and Michael of Key Largo, Fla.; two daughters, Cheryl Gravante of Erie and Kim Heckler of Sodus; a stepson, Lutz Ringelmann of Germany; a stepdaughter, Britta Heberlein of Germany; and six grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Nativity of Our Lord Church, Orchard Park. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Orchard Park.
