Lily Marie Becker, a volunteer leader in the March of Dimes charity drive and an accomplished artist, died Monday (Dec. 29, 1997) in Buffalo General Hospital after a brief illness. She was 79.
The former Lily Marie Maecker was born in Buffalo and was a resident of Lake View.
A graduate of Bennett High School, she studied art in Rochester and at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. She also studied under local artist Robert Blair.
Mrs. Becker also was a career model with Sibley, Lindsay & Kerr in local department stores.
With the March of Dimes, Mrs. Becker served as chairwoman of the Hamburg District.
She was a member of the Wanakah Country Club.
Survivors include her husband, Dean E. Sr. of Lake View; two sons, Dean E. Jr. and Jack, both of Lake View; a daughter, Bonnie Hesslink, also of Lake View; a brother, Arthur Maecker of Angola; a sister, Alice Quinlan of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Dietrich Funeral Home, 2480 Kensington Ave., Amherst. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
