Football fan James Shivers, 60, has been charged with murdering his 26-year-old son Tony with a blast from a shotgun for standing in front of the television set during a college football game.

The two men shared an apartment, where James Shivers was watching Monday's game between the University of Missouri and Colorado State when the younger man deliberately stood in front of the TV set, police said.

They said James Shivers fired a pistol at his son and missed. The son grabbed the gun and beat his father over the head with it, breaking the weapon. Then James Shivers allegedly got a shotgun and fired.
