DOROTHY J. SANDEKIAN, CO-OWNED FLORAL SHOPS

Dorothy J. Sandekian, the co-owner of florist shops in the city's Broadway business district and Cheektowaga, died Tuesday (Dec. 30, 1997) in Erie County Medical Center after suffering a stroke last week. She was 67.

The former Dorothy Judkiewicz was born in Buffalo and was a graduate of Villa Maria High School in Cheektowaga.

Together with her husband, Edward F. Sandekian, who died in 1988, she founded the Broadway Flower Shop at Broadway and Sweet Avenue in 1956.

In 1965, the couple founded Pine Ridge Florist, which was located initially at Pine Ridge Road and Genesee Street in Cheektowaga. Later they moved the shop to 3015 Genesee St. Mrs. Sandekian retired in 1994.

Mrs. Sandekian was a member of St. Joseph Hospital Ladies Guild and United Florist Association.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Senn of Depew; a sister, Theresa Drabek of Buffalo; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday in Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church, 180 George Urban Blvd., Cheektowaga. Prayers will be said at 10:30 in Melvin J. Sliwinski Funeral Home, 85 George Urban. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
