If Mayor Masiello wants to improve Buffalo, he needs to develop the waterfront. Officials have been talking about this for years, but nothing ever seems to get accomplished. My wife and I just got back from a tour of our country's Southern beaches. We started our trip in Virginia Beach, Va., which has miles of beautiful sand and boardwalk. Then we went to Myrtle Beach, S.C., which has miles of beach and is a golfers' paradise, and Clearwater Beach, Fla.
People have always been drawn to the water. There are many nice beaches along Lake Erie in Dunkirk, Evans and Hamburg, not to mention all of the beautiful beaches in Canada. Why can't Buffalo take advantage of its beautifulwaterfront and open a beach in the city?
