The Genesee County YWCA has set up a Children's Center in the new Genesee County County Courthouse for youngsters whose parents or guardians are appearing in court.
The facility, scheduled to open Jan. 12, will have furniture and equipment to serve children from six weeks to seven years.
Patricia McAllister, the YWCA's director of children's services, said the new center can only exist through community cooperation and participation. Volunteers are being recruited by the YWCA to serve four hours a week to help Sue Ann Brinkman, who has been hired to run the Children's Center.
The Genesee County Children's Center is among several established throughout New York by the state's Unified Court System.
