AUTO RACING'S HENDRICK GETS HOME CONFINEMENT

NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick was sentenced to a year of home confinement, three years probation and a fine of $250,000 after pleading guilty to mail fraud in connection with bribery and kickbacks related to his automobile dealerships.

Hendrick, who owns cars driven by 1997 Winston Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon, Terry Labonte and Ricky Craven, can't be involved with NASCAR or his auto dealerships during his confinement.

Though the fraud charge carries a maximum sentence of five years, prosecutors agreed to the one-year home confinement sentence because Hendrick was diagnosed with a life-threatening form of leukemia.
