MOTHER, DAUGHTER HURT IN CAR-TRUCK COLLISION

A mother and daughter were injured at 3:03 p.m. Tuesday when their car and a pickup truck collided at 15th Street and South Avenue, Officer Thomas Licata said.

Latania Harper, 26, and her 14-year-old daughter, Tykeisha, both of 13th Street, were released from Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after treatment for facial injuries and head, neck and back pain, a hospital official said.

The accident occurred after the truck, driven by Leo N. Haskell, 48, of North Third Street, Lewiston, passed a stop sign while traveling east on South Avenue and collided with Ms. Harper's car which was traveling north on 15th Street, Licata said. Haskell said he tried to stop, but slid into the intersection because of the slick roadway, Licata said.

Officer Les Kachurek, who investigated the accident, charged Haskell with a stop sign violation while he charged Ms. Harper with driving while her license was suspended and driving a car with a suspended registration, Licata said.
