A first-ever mass swearing-in ceremony involving 30 county, city and town officials was held Tuesday evening at the new Genesee County Court Facility.

Four judges presided before a crowd of 75 family members and friends.

Taking the oath of office after winning re-election last year were eight county legislators, five city councilmen and 15 town officials.

Among those sworn in were two new Batavia ward Council members, J. Peter Garlock and Andrew Lista.

Three at-large members, including Council President George A. Spinnegan and former ward Councilman B. Thomas Mancuso also took the oath of office.

Presiding were County Judge Robert C. Noonan, Family Court Judge Charles F. Graney and City Court Judges Robert J. Balbick and Don B. Iwanicki.

The ceremony was held in the Batavia City courtroom to recognize the city's involvement with the county in the $9.3 million criminal justice facility.
