With its deadline looming on Wednesday, Wyndham Lawn Home for Children was $15,750.82 short on Monday of the $75,000 that it needs to raise in order to collect on a challenge grant.
An anonymous donor has offered to contribute $25,000 to Wyndham Lawn if the home for children can raise $75,000 from other sources by Wednesday afternoon. As of Monday, the home had raised $59,249.18 toward that goal.
Executive Director Richard J. Pyc said, "In recent years, state funding of children's services has declined, and we must seek private support to continue offering specialized services to emotionally disturbed, learning disabled and abused children in our care."
Donations to the home at 6395 Old Niagara Road are used to provide counseling, special education and family therapy to the 43 boys and 20 girls who live there.
