A Jamestown pharmacist accused in a multimillion-dollar prescription-drug fraud case entered an innocent plea in federal court Monday.
Anthony Rizzo, 52, appeared in U.S. District Court in Buffalo to enter a plea to a 37-count indictment. He is accused of bilking prescription-drug companies out of $3 million worth of pharmaceutical products.
Rizzo was released on a $150,000 signature bond and is to be back in court March 23 for oral arguments and pretrial motions.
The owner of Union Pharmacy in Jamestown, Rizzo also faces state charges in a $2-million Medicaid fraud case. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison on the federal charges and $1 million in fines.
