The Pomfret Town Board Monday bid farewell to Supervisor Mark Thomas, the newly-elected Chautauqua County executive, and retiring veteran of the highway department.
"We are very grateful for what he has done," Thomas said of Charles Dankert, a highway department motor equipment operator for over 30 years.
Acting Monday, the board approved a budget transfer of $45,000 to the highway equipment reserve fund. Thomas said any surplus in the highway budget is carried over into the next year by placing it in the reserve fund.
"We usually use it every other year to purchase equipment," he said.
The board agreed to continue agreements with the Chautauqua County Humane Society and the Village of Fredonia for the Office for the Aging program.
