Syracuse Crunch forward Paul Ferone was arrested Sunday during an American Hockey League game against the Beast of New Haven after allegedly swinging a stick at a heckling fan.
Police said Ferone confronted the fan while leaving the ice after the second period. It was unclear whether anyone was injured.
Ferone was charged with third-degree assault and released on a promise to appear in court Feb. 6.
He was held out of the game for the final period as the Crunch defeated the Beast, 7-4.
