BANDITS NIP KNIGHTHAWKS, BUT LOSE MAYOR'S CUP

John Tavares had four goals and three assists to lead the Buffalo Bandits to a 14-13 win over the Rochester Knighthawks Sunday afternoon in the finale of the two-game Mayor's Cup exhibition series before 4,504 at the War Memorial.

Rochester, which won, 17-16, in overtime at Marine Midland Arena Saturday, then captured the Cup with a 3-2 win in a 15-minute minigame. Daniel Teat scored the winner in the minigame, with 20 seconds left.

Travis Kilgour had four assists in regulation and a goal in the minigame for the Bandits, who open the regular season at home at 8 p.m. Saturday against the Philadelphia Wings.
