James B. Alspaugh died Tuesday in Veterans Hospital. He was 74.
A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., he came to Buffalo in 1946. He worked at Dressers Industries, retiring as foreman, and worked as a bus aide for the Buffalo Board of Education.
Alspaugh was a member of the New Mount Love CME Church and served as a deacon.
He was past commander and historian of Jessie Clipper Post 430, American Legion, a senior deacon of Adams Brotherhood Lodge 969 and past district deputy of the Empire State Grand Council 4, Scottish Rite of Masons. He was commander of Hiram Consistory 969 and held various other positions of the Masonic Order.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva; one daughter, Carol Alspaugh; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday in Hopewell Baptist Church, Fillmore Avenue and Urban Boulevard.
