GOP LEGISLATORS CHOOSE APPOINTEES

Niagara County's Republican legislators, who will take over as the majority party in 1998, have completed their roster of department heads and other appointed positions but declined Saturday to release any names of those involved.

"We're ready to roll," said Shirley Gregory Urtel of Wilson, who will be the majority leader in the new Legislature. "All that remains is we want to talk to the individuals involved. We don't want them to find out about our decisions in the newspaper."

Mrs. Urtel said the list includes not only those who are expected to be named but those who will be replaced.

"It's a courtesy kind of thing," she said.

She said a press release will be prepared for distribution the evening the full Legislature meets for its organizational meeting on Jan. 6.
