The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival brings the best in regional college theater to the Center for the Arts, University at Buffalo, Jan. 14 to 18.

The festival, held at locations across the country, showcases the finest of each region's entered productions and offers a variety of activities, including playwriting workshops, symposiums on design and other topics, and regional award programs.

The students' work is evaluated by experts. The best and most diverse collegiate theatrical events in the nation are presented at Kennedy Center in the spring.

It is the 30th year of the festival, and UB has been host the event for two of the past three years. Registration fee is $55. For information, call Jeff Wilson at 645-6898, Ext. 1318.

The Towne Players of Kenmore-Tonawanda will audition at 7 p.m. Jan. 7 and 8 for Patrick Hamilton's suspense thriller "Rope." Director Randall Rumley is looking for four women and four men. The auditions will be at Thomas Edison Elementary School, 236 Grayton Road, Tonawanda. For information, call 834-1331.

The Orchard Park Chorale will begin rehearsals for the second part of its 1997-98 season on Jan. 5.

Sessions will be held Mondays at 7:30 p.m. in Orchard Park Community Church, 7451 E. Quaker St. (Route 20A).

All Western New York singers may join. Tenors and basses are especially welcome. Auditions are not required.

Paul Robeson Theatre is looking for four African-American women, from their late 20s to their late 60s, for roles in its March production. The play, "Unveilings," was written by P.J. Gibson and will be directed by Willie Judson.

The Actors' Workshop seeks six men and five women to act in its next production, A.R. Gurney's "Later Life."

The production will open Feb. 5 and run through March 28 at the Cafe Theater in Amherst. For information, call director Fred Keller at 882-5914.

Work by young women artists, ages 15 to 19, is sought by Impact Gallery for a February exhibition. Works must be brought to the gallery, 640 Breckenridge Ave., Jan. 17 between 10 a.m. and noon to be juried. There is no entry fee. For information, call 884-5063.
