THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHOMP-ION

Mike Tyson is still hearing about his ear-biting fiasco.

It cost him a shot at one title and earned him another: most pretentious sports personality of 1997.

Tyson was nominated for biting Evander Holyfield's ear during their heavyweight title fight on June 28, an act that got him disqualified.

The former champion finished with nearly 21 percent of the vote in Smirnoff's poll of nearly 16,000 people who voted by mail and computer.

Tiger Woods was second with 16 percent of the vote. He was nominated because the All-Star Cafe restaurants in which he has an ownership share did not accept American Express cards, even though Woods is a company spokesman.

Placing third with 13 percent was New York Jets receiver Keyshawn Johnson, who made unkind comments about teammates in an autobiography -- "Just Give Me the Damn Ball" -- published after his undistinguished rookie season.
