Anna N. Wilk, 79, of Orchard Park, died Tuesday (Dec. 23, 1997) in Mercy Hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Wilk grew up in Lackawanna and attended high school there.
She married James S. Wilk in 1934. After the birth of their third child, they moved to Angola. Three years later, in 1946, the family moved to Orchard Park, residing on the farm formerly owned by Mrs. Wilk's parents. She had lived in the same home ever since.
She worked as a manager of the deli department at the old Acme Market in the Southgate Plaza in West Seneca, retiring in 1979.
Mrs. Wilk was an avid gardener who grew her own vegetables and tended flower beds all around her home. She also enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles and arts and crafts.
She was active in the Windom Home Bureau and the Sacred Heart Senior Citizens Group.
Mrs. Wilk was predeceased by her husband.
Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Maloney of Orchard Park and Elizabeth Arnold of Springville; two sons, Paul and John, both of Orchard Park; four sisters, Catherine Herniok of Lackawanna, Helen Lohr of East Aurora, Dorothy Kowalczyk of Orchard Park and Jean King of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a brother, John Herniak of Lackawanna; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services at 9 a.m. today in F.E. Brown Sons Funeral Home, 6575 E. Quaker Street, Orchard Park will precede a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Nativity of Our Lord Church, 26 Thorn Avenue, Orchard Park.
Burial will be in Nativity Cemetery, Orchard Park.
