WOMAN INJURED FLEEING FALLS FIRE

A woman suffered a possible broken leg jumping from a second-floor window Thursday night to escape a fire that heavily damaged an apartment house at 233 15th St., police said.

Rena Hamilton, 40, was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for treatment. Samuel Price, 36, was taken to the same hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

The fire originated in a first-floor rear apartment occupied by Altha Smith, who escaped safely.

Battalion Chief Leonard Moore said the cause of the fire was under investigation and no damage had been set. The fire alarm was received at 9:32 p.m., and the fire was brought under control in less than half an hour.
