A 56-year-old Orton Place man was shot in his home by an acquaintance Thursday afternoon, Buffalo police said.
Sigredo Rodriguez was shot in the right shoulder and taken to Erie County Medical Center. His condition could not be learned Thursday night.
Police charged Jose Ortiz, 23, of West Avenue with first-degree assault and weapons possession. Police said the motive was unclear.
Ortiz allegedly used a .38-caliber handgun to shoot Rodriquez while both men were in the Orton Place apartment shortly after 2 p.m., said Lt. William Blake of B District.
Police also charged two women, Martha Oliveras, 42, and Carmen Ortiz, 24, both of Orton Place, with second-degree obstructing government administration for trying to hide the gun from officers, Blake said.
