I am writing in response to a Dec. 2 letter entitled, "Roads would be safer without so many SUVs." Living in Western New York, we have several lake-effect snowstorms each winter that create very difficult travel conditions. Unfortunately, some people with medical problems need to arrive at a destination on a scheduled day and time, as with dialysis-renal care.
Having no need for a four-wheel-drive pickup truck, I found the sport utility vehicle to be very valuable. Don't fault all SUV drivers and owners. They may save the life of a friend, a neighbor or a family member. I need my SUV.
