Mabel Hayes, 75, of Sawyer Road, formerly of Niagara Falls, died Thursday (Dec. 25, 1997) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness.
The former Mabel Haddix was born in Hamilton, W.Va. She moved to Niagara Falls as a young woman. She worked as a health aide with the Health Association of Niagara County for 13 years, retiring in 1995.
Her husband, Burdette "Burt," died in 1994. Surviving are two sons, Burdette E. and Michael P., both of Niagara Falls; six daughters, Kathryn Glemb of North Tonawanda, Sandra Beigay of Pennsylvania, Sheila James of Ohio, Janice McCoy and Peigi Martin, both of Niagara Falls, and Sally Dick of Niagara Falls, Ont.; three sisters, Maude Hayes of Ransomville, Katherine Sisler of West Virginia, and Myrtle Sapp of Ohio; five brothers, Frank Haddix of Ohio and John, James, Richard and Oscar Haddix, all of West Virginia; 23 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Zajac Funeral Home, 319 24th St., Niagara Falls; burial in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria.
