Five charges were filed Wednesday against a teen-ager in connection with a break-in and assault that was followed by a high-speed chase early Sunday.

Officer Edward J. Janese arrested Steven C. Porter, 17, of 1435 Wyoming Ave. at 12:35 p.m. and charged him with first-degree burglary, second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree menacing, third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Porter was accused of breaking down the front door of a 77th Street home Sunday, threatening the resident with a knife and kicking him in the groin.

A high-speed police chase ensued.
