PHYLLIS H. MANCUSO VANDETTE, HOMEMAKER

Phyllis Helen Mancuso VanDette, 78, a homemaker and lifelong resident of the Dunkirk-Fredonia area, died Tuesday (Dec. 23, 1997) in Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Dunkirk, she attended Fredonia schools.

She was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Sheridan and served as an Ecumenical minister. She also was a member of the Beaver Club in Fredonia, the Loyal Order of Moose in Dunkirk, the Senior Citizens Club and Share and Care Group in Fredonia and was active in many bridge clubs in the area.

Her husband, Thomas, died in 1985.

Survivors include four sons, Thomas R., Dennis A. and Douglas G., all of Fredonia, and William L. of Las Vegas; two brothers, Samuel Mancuso of Dunkirk and Charles Mancuso of Fredonia; five sisters, Gillis Mancuso and Carmela Gens, both of Fredonia, Jennie Abounader and Mary Zappo, both of Buffalo, and Roseanne Ciancio of West Seneca; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Prayers will be said at 9 a.m. Saturday in Fantauzzi Funeral Home, Fredonia, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. John Bosco Church, Sheridan. Internment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Sheridan.
