PAINT BALL STRIKES BOY ON BIKE

An 8-year-old boy was struck by a yellow paint ball fired from a passing car Wednesday, Sheriff's Deputy Timothy E. Callaghan said.

The boy, from Errick Road in Wheatfield, was riding his bicycle with a friend at East Canal and Tonawanda Creek roads at about 2:15 p.m. when a car that was northbound on New Road in Amherst crossed the bridge to enter Niagara County and shot the paint ball at them.

The boy was left with welts on his buttocks and left arm, Callaghan said. There was no report of him medical treatment.
