Armed robbers, one of whom sprang from concealment -- held up the payroll department of a Manhattan hospital Wednesday, fleeing with $180,000.
Three masked gunmen staged the holdup in Beth Israel Medical Center at about 7:30 a.m., said Officer Olga Mercado, a police spokeswoman.
One man leapt from his hiding place in the payroll department as employees and security guards were counting cash, Mercado said.
His two accomplices banged on the door and were let in because they had weapons, she said.
The robbers got away with $200,000; there were no injuries.
The spokeswoman said Beth Israel made arrangements for employees to cash their paychecks at local banks.
