A store victimized by a woman who went on a 10-year shoplifting spree is donating $27,000 worth of recovered merchandise to the needy.

The Bon-Ton Department Stores Inc. has given the Madison County Social Services Department permission to distribute the dozens of bags of stolen women's clothing to its clients, District Attorney Donald Cerio said.

The clothes were among more than $200,000 worth of women's clothing found in the Cazenovia home of Virginia Charlebois in June.

Police said Ms. Charlebois stole the upscale clothing from area department stores, including Bon-Ton, Bonwit Teller and Kaufman's. She never wore the clothes. Many garments still had the price tags attached and were hanging on store hangers when police found the clothing cache.
