Russian President Boris Yeltsin left the Barvikha sanitarium outside Moscow today after completing his recovery from a cold and viral infection, the Kremlin said.

A spokesman said Yeltsin, 66, had met First Deputy Prime Minister Boris Nemtsov in his Kremlin office and would later in the day return to his usual residence in Gorki-9 outside Moscow after spending two weeks in Barvikha.

On Tuesday, Yeltsin had appeared in the Kremlin for the first time since falling ill and spent three hours in his office meeting his aides before returning to Barvikha.

Doctors have said the cold did not affect Yeltsin's heart, which underwent multiple bypass surgery in November 1996.
