The Lakewood Village Board Monday night approved a new five-year contract with the Town of Busti to continue the municipalities' consolidated police force.

Lakewood Mayor Anthony Caprino said the pact includes a $5,000 increase from the village for each of the five years. The cost to the village in 1997 was $175,000.

The Busti Town Board is expected to vote on the agreement at its year-end meeting next week.
