Joseph D. "Dano" Rhodes, a dump-truck operator, died Tuesday (Dec. 23, 1997) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was 36.

Rhodes, of 61st Street, was born in Niagara Falls and attended LaSalle High School.

He drove a dump truck for Steinbroner Trucking Co. for 10 years and for Lloyd Enterprises for two years.

Rhodes was an avid fisherman and race-car enthusiast.

Survivors include his wife, the former Sheri Altizer; two daughters, Danielle and Rachel; his parents, Stanley and Alice of Sacramento, Calif.; three brothers, Stanley and Christopher, both of Sacramento, and Phillip; five sisters, Jenny Calderon and Kathleen Romo, both of Sacramento, Suzy Sugart of Bakersfield, Calif., and Dorothy Steinbroner and Dolores Johnson.

Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday in Lane Funeral Home, 8622 Buffalo Ave. Burial will be private.
