A raid on a gambling party at a Williamsville hotel resulted in three arrests and the seizure of $6,000 in cash, Amherst police said Tuesday.
The Friday evening raid resulted in the arrests of three men: Niagara Falls residents Patrick J. Ciccarelli, 46, and Peter Congi, 58, and Joseph Loro, 39, a resident of Niagara Falls, Ont., according to Capt. Ron Hagelberger of the Amherst Police Narcotics Unit. The search warrant was signed by Village Justice Victoria L. D'Angelo.
All three men were charged with misdemeanor counts of promoting gambling and the possession of gambling devices, Hagelberger said.
The raid was a joint effort of the Amherst Police Narcotics Unit and the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Buffalo office.
The raid, the result of an ongoing investigation by the two agencies, also netted more than $6,000 in cash used in the gambling operation as well as gambling paraphernalia including chips, gambling records, and tables, Hagelberger said.
Police declined to give the name of the hotel or street in the village where the raid took place.
