THE LAUGH'S ON SEINFELD

Jerry Seinfeld passed on some good laughs 20 years ago.

According to comedian-writer Carol Leifer of the WB show "Alright Already," Seinfeld passed over her and Paul Reiser of "Mad About You" as stand-up comedians when the two were trying out for a comedy club.

"We went to the Comic Strip together in 1977, and Jerry was the master of ceremonies, and he passed us both on the audition," Leifer said in the Dec. 27 issue of TV Guide.

Leifer still went on to develop a solid stand-up career as well as write for "Saturday Night Live," "The Larry Sanders Show" and "Seinfeld," where she was also the basis for the character Elaine.
