SISTER M. DIONYSIA LEPRELLE, EDUCATOR

Sister M. Dionysia LePrelle, 99, of Stella Niagara, died Sunday (Dec. 21, 1997) in Stella Niagara.

The former Cecilia F. LePrelle was born in Buffalo. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity at Stella Niagara on Sept. 16, 1916, and made her profession of religious vows on March 3, 1919.

Sister LePrelle received both her bachelor and master of arts degrees from Canisius College. She taught elementary education at St. Peter School in Columbus, Ohio, and also taught at Stella Niagara, Sacred Heart and St. Ann School in Buffalo.

She was the director of St. Aloysius Academy in New Lexington, Ohio.

In 1950, she taught at and was the superior at Rosary Hill College in Buffalo.

She came back to Stella Niagara in 1968 and worked at the switchboard full-time for many years before retiring.

A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. today in Stella Niagara, 4421 Lower River Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Stella Niagara. Burial will be in Stella Niagara Cemetery.
