Rita M. Amlinger, 70, of Depew, a career servicewoman, died Sunday (Dec. 21, 1997) in Mitchell Campus of Hospice Buffalo, Cheektowaga, after a long illness.
Born in Buffalo, she was a graduate of St. Nicholas Academy and St. Ann's Business School.
She joined the Army in 1953 and attained the rank of sergeant, serving in Okinawa and Germany. She retired from active duty in 1973.
She worked as a clerk for the Postal Service from 1973 to 1983.
Ms. Amlinger was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Buffalo Chapter 15, and Depew American Legion Post 1528. An avid sportswoman, she enjoyed all sports. She also enjoyed reading.
Survivors include a brother, Roland Jr. of Buffalo; and a sister, Grace Small of Depew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. James Catholic Church, 496 Terrace Blvd., Depew. Prayers will be said at 8:45 in Amigone Funeral Home, 6050 Transit Road, Depew. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
