President Boris Yeltsin left a sanitarium today to end a two-week convalescence from a bad cold and headed directly to the Kremlin for the first in a series of meetings planned for the rest of the week.

Doctors had recommended that Yeltsin stay in the government rest home until the end of this week, but the restless president declared he had fully recovered.

"I have no traces (of illness) left," Yeltsin said Monday at the Barvikha sanitarium, where he had been treated for a respiratory viral infection since Dec. 10. Yeltsin, 66, has been hospitalized three times in just over a year.
